Join us for 4 days on a unique adventure trip from Whitianga to the Great Barrier Island (Aotea Island). Get away from the usual - and closer to adventure — explore the less travelled waters this area has to offer. Whether you are a wildlife enthusiast or simply joining us for the pure pleasure of sailing, you will be impressed by the array of marine life this area has to offer.

Playful pods of Common Dolphins often swim & frolic in the bow and Bryde's Whales are a common encounter in the area during this time a year. The ample room on deck and easy access makes Windborne a perfect platform for manoeuvring wildlife photography, gearing up for snorkelling or just sun bathing.

Our 4 day trip to the Great Barrier Island is by nature unstructured, and adventure is the destination in itself. Everybody on board is welcome to help set & trim the sails or simply relax. For the night we’ll anchor in one of the gorgeous bays the area has to offer and enjoy the nostalgic and comfortable life on board this classic top sail schooner.

Once landfall is made on Great Barrier Island, going onshore enables you to experience the distinctive nature this Island has to offer. You can simply explore the beaches for shells & other treasures or for the more energetic there are plenty of great D.O.C walks available.

Whether it is rest and relaxation - or adventure - the choice is yours. Weather permitting we plan to anchor on the Island of Motutaiko and visit the Gannet Colony that inhabit this island.

This is a great opportunity for the wildlife enthusiast to take some of those close-up photos of these beautiful birds.
