Important booking info for Windborne Sailing Charters. Learn about deposits, cancellations, weather changes and safety before your Coromandel trip.
Deposit and payment
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking for private charters and large group reservations.
The remaining balance must be paid before or on the day of your charter (no later than the morning of departure).
We accept bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, or cash.
Guests choosing to pay on the day are still bound by our cancellation policy and are liable for the full cost if they cancel late or do not show up.
Cancellations by customers
- Private charters: 7 days’ notice is required for a full refund.
- Other bookings: 48 hours’ notice is required.
- Deposits are non-refundable if cancelled outside these timeframes.
- Guests paying on the day are still liable for the full cost if they cancel late or fail to show up.
Cancellations by Windborne Sailing Charters
We may cancel due to unsafe weather, mechanical issues, or unforeseen circumstances.
If we cancel, you will receive a 100% refund or credit – the choice is yours.
If minimum passenger numbers are not met, we will notify you as early as possible and offer to reschedule, suggest an alternative trip, or provide a full refund.
We will contact you by phone, email, or text.
Weather and itinerary changes
For safety reasons, routes, anchorages, and destinations may be adjusted on the day.
Final decisions rest with the skipper.
Safety and liability
Our vessel meets all NZ Maritime safety standards.
Passengers must follow crew instructions at all times.
Activities such as swimming, snorkelling, paddleboarding, and sail handling are voluntary and undertaken at your own risk.
Health and fitness
Passengers are responsible for disclosing any medical conditions prior to departure.
We recommend bringing seasickness medication and any personal essentials you may require.
Food and alcohol
Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted. The skipper may stop alcohol consumption if behaviour becomes unsafe.
Self-catering is welcome, but please note the galley is very limited. Bring food that is ready to eat and does not require heating or preparation.
Children
Children are welcome aboard but must be supervised by their parent or guardian at all times.
Property and belongings
Windborne Sailing Charters accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal items brought on board.
Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by New Zealand law. Any disputes will be handled in the New Zealand courts.
These Terms & Conditions, together with your booking confirmation, form the entire agreement between you and Windborne Sailing Charters.
